Gdańsk University of Technology Ranks Second in Poland in THE Impact Rankings

Gdańsk University of Technology achieved a position in the 401-600 range worldwide and second place in Poland in the prestigious international ranking assessing universities' commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – The Impact Rankings. THE Impact Rankings include an overall ranking and detailed rankings considering the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This year's edition is the sixth, and interest in the ranking has grown yearly – from 467 universities in the first edition to 1,963 in the current one.

Gdańsk University of Technology scored 73.9 out of 100 possible points in this year's edition, marking an increase of 8.9 points year-over-year (up from 65 points in 2023) and a rise in the global ranking from 601-800 to 401-600, and in the national ranking from 4-8 to 2.

Gdańsk University of Technology Advances in QS World University Rankings

Published since 2004, this ranking is one of the most prestigious university rankings in the world. In the latest QS WUR 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology improved its position by one bracket compared to last year, placing in the 801-850 range. The ranking considers nine indicators with varying weights. The opinions of academic staff and employers about the university, gathered through an annual survey, play a significant role, accounting for 45% of the possible points.

In the latest edition of QS WUR, 1,503 universities from 105 countries were ranked. Among them were 22 universities from Poland, with Gdańsk University of Technology ranking in the top 5 in Poland.

From May 20th to 24th, 2024, we hosted lecturers from Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences  at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology: Prof. Martin Wenke, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, and Prof. Harald Vergossen.

Prof. Martin Wenke conducted lectures and exercises for students as part of the courses "Essentials of Micro- and Macroeconomics" and "Entrepreneurship." Meanwhile, Prof. Harald Vergossen conducted a full-day workshop, "Production-Distribution Game - Beer Game," for students of the Innovation Science Club.

World-class economists participated in the international scientific conference TIG2024 (Technology, Innovation, and Growth 2024), organized by the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk University of Technology, led by Ph.D., D. Sc Eng. Aleksandra Parteka, Professor of Gdańsk University of Technology (FME).

Meeting of the DEMS project members in Porto

On April 23-24, another meeting of the DEMS project members took place. This time, the host of the visit was the team from ISCAP - The Porto Accounting and Business School.

The city welcomed us with rays of sunshine and encouraged us to work intensively on the next phase of the project. We are in the final stage of the project, which will conclude in October this year. We discussed details regarding the second, international stage of the student competition, the first stage of which is currently underway. The discussion also covered new methods and tools for disseminating the project's result

Intensive Week as part of the Circular Economy–Sustainability Hackathon

From April 15-19, 2024, the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk University of Technology hosted the Intensive Week in the Circular Economy–Sustainability Hackathon project. The project was organized in cooperation with Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), Hochschule Niederrhein-University of Applied Sciences, and Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. Five international student teams, under the guidance of their mentors, were tasked with developing practical solutions to combat food waste.

The team mentors were representatives from the participating institutions: Nicoletta Messerschmidt from Hochschule Niederrhein, Melanie Kirwa and Simona Chilba from HAMK, Elżbieta Karwowska from Gdańsk University of Technology, and Aivars Timofejevs from Stockholm School of Economics.

Summary of the 15th Qualitas Conference

On April 11, 2024, the 15th edition of the Qualitas Conference took place at the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Gdańsk University of Technology.

The conference focused on excellence in project management, service and manufacturing process improvement, and the use of artificial intelligence. The presentations were extremely interesting and covered topics such as systemic improvements in project management, enhancement actions in operational management, creating patient experience strategies, and organizational structures of registration work in medical entities. Additionally, the topic of harmonizing rapid development with the cultural DNA of the brand was discussed.

Diploma Award Ceremony - Summary

On April 11, 2024, the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Gdańsk University of Technology held a diploma award ceremony. It was a special moment for the graduates of first and second degree programs, who proudly received their well-deserved diplomas. The ceremony gathered students along with their guests, the Faculty Council, lecturers, supervisors, reviewers, and many other guests who wanted to share this special moment with the graduates.

The ceremony began with a welcome address to the guests by the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Professor Małgorzata Gawrycka, and the Vice-Rector for Education, Professor Mariusz Kaczmarek. The Dean warmly greeted everyone present and offered congratulations to the graduates on reaching this significant milestone in their lives.

Open lecture “Free Trade vs. Protectionism” with Professor Lawrence Reed

The Club of the Austrian School of Economics (KASE) Gdańsk and the Scientific Club of Innovation of the FME, would like to invite you to a meeting to be held on Thursday, April 25 at 18:00 in room 103 at the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Gdańsk Tech.

The speaker of the lecture will be Lawrence Reed, Professor Emeritus of Economics, who is a former chairman of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) and a former fellow of the American Mises Institute.

The topic of the lecture, “Free Trade vs. Protectionism” deals with extremely topical issues related to foreign trade and protectionism.
