Gdańsk University of Technology to receive over PLN 7.3 million for research

Researchers at Gdansk University of Technology will receive research funds under OPUS 26 and SONATA 19 calls of the National Science Center. Total funds granted to Gdańsk Tech amount to over PLN 7.3 million.

“Can photointercalation negatively affect the efficiency of photoanodes? Exploring effective methods to mitigate the adverse impact of  photointercalation in layered materials”, project author: Mariusz Szkoda, PhD, Faculty of Chemistry, funding amount: PLN 1 359 256.

Opening of the Modern Multimedia Classroom at the FME

On July 11, 2024, the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Ph.D. Małgorzata Gawrycka, Gdańsk Tech professor, officially opened the state-of-the-art multimedia classroom at the Faculty of Management and Economics. According to the main contractor, Eurotrend, it has been equipped with the most advanced audiovisual equipment currently available in the Pomeranian region.

The multimedia classroom 110/111, located on the first floor of the Faculty building, utilizes the latest technologies to enhance the quality of education and provide comfort for both students and lecturers. It features interactive whiteboards, advanced audio and video systems, and modular furniture that allows for flexible arrangement of the space to meet the needs of various classes. The room is fully equipped for hybrid lectures with installed omnidirectional microphones and cameras that automatically focus on the speaking individuals.

More than 440 thousand PLN for the university’s internationalization

Gdańsk University of Technology has received more than 440 thousand PLN for internationalization activities under the "Welcome to Poland" program of the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA). The International Relations Office will be responsible for the project “Internationalization of Gdańsk University of Technology: Development of WELCOME SERVICES / Promotion of WELCOME CULTURE”.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has established the “Welcome to Poland” program with the goal of enhancing internationalization within Polish higher education institutions. NAWA's funding is intended to support initiatives that strengthen universities’ ability to accommodate international students and promote the institutions’ global reach and reputation.

NATO at Gdańsk Tech. The University is to become the Alliance's "Living Lab"

The Gdańsk University of Technology campus will be the first NATO Living Lab in Poland, a showcase for the latest defense technologies and inventions developed by scientists and military personnel from 32 Alliance countries. What's more, the NATO DIANA program also includes a structure that was developed by scientists at Gdańsk University of Technology.

Launched by NATO in 2023, DIANA's main task is to bring together scientists and research teams working in start-up companies and on cutting-edge solutions in the field of so-called deep technology (deep tech) with civilian and defense units. The group consists of 32 countries of the Alliance, including Poland. The Polish Ministry of Defense's Innovation Department is the coordinator of the country's participation in the accelerator.

Gdańsk Tech among the five best universities in Poland.

The "Perspektywy" Foundation has published an annual ranking of the best universities in Poland. Gdańsk University of Technology advanced in the classification of all universities, ranking one step higher than last year - in 5th place. In turn, in the ranking of technical universities, Gdańsk Tech again took a high 3rd place.

The very good past year allowed our university to advance and thus be among the five best universities in Poland. This is a great success, as is maintaining the 3rd place in the category of technical universities.

The Smart Bench at FME

In 2023, as part of the XV edition of the International MBA in Strategy, Programme, and Project Management studies at the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Benchee team, consisting of four students (Leszek Adamczyk, Daniel Bąk, Izabela Chabowska, and Wojciech Ignalewski) under the supervision of PhD Paweł Ziemiański, developed the concept for a project to build intelligent small architecture.

The project's goal was to create a system of products that are visually appealing, encourage use, are environmentally friendly, and align with modern smart city trends. The system's elements were designed with durability, functionality, and aesthetics in mind, fitting into sustainable development goals by promoting responsible production and consumption. They also serve as excellent platforms for eco-educational purposes and help companies and local governments achieve ESG goals.

Gdańsk University of Technology Ranks Second in Poland in THE Impact Rankings

Gdańsk University of Technology achieved a position in the 401-600 range worldwide and second place in Poland in the prestigious international ranking assessing universities' commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – The Impact Rankings. THE Impact Rankings include an overall ranking and detailed rankings considering the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This year's edition is the sixth, and interest in the ranking has grown yearly – from 467 universities in the first edition to 1,963 in the current one.

Gdańsk University of Technology scored 73.9 out of 100 possible points in this year's edition, marking an increase of 8.9 points year-over-year (up from 65 points in 2023) and a rise in the global ranking from 601-800 to 401-600, and in the national ranking from 4-8 to 2.

Gdańsk University of Technology Advances in QS World University Rankings

Published since 2004, this ranking is one of the most prestigious university rankings in the world. In the latest QS WUR 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology improved its position by one bracket compared to last year, placing in the 801-850 range. The ranking considers nine indicators with varying weights. The opinions of academic staff and employers about the university, gathered through an annual survey, play a significant role, accounting for 45% of the possible points.

In the latest edition of QS WUR, 1,503 universities from 105 countries were ranked. Among them were 22 universities from Poland, with Gdańsk University of Technology ranking in the top 5 in Poland.

From May 20th to 24th, 2024, we hosted lecturers from Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences  at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology: Prof. Martin Wenke, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, and Prof. Harald Vergossen.

Prof. Martin Wenke conducted lectures and exercises for students as part of the courses "Essentials of Micro- and Macroeconomics" and "Entrepreneurship." Meanwhile, Prof. Harald Vergossen conducted a full-day workshop, "Production-Distribution Game - Beer Game," for students of the Innovation Science Club.

World-class economists participated in the international scientific conference TIG2024 (Technology, Innovation, and Growth 2024), organized by the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk University of Technology, led by Ph.D., D.
