We would like to invite some of students to participate free of charge in an international conference on digital government, which will be held at the Gdansk University of Technology from 11-14.07.2023.

We would like to invite interested students to attend the 24th Annual International Conference on Digital Government Research (dg.o 2023), which will take place from 11-14 July 2023 at the main building of the Gdansk University of Technology. The event will bring together leading digital government researchers from 25 countries in Europe, North and South America and Asia.

Student participation at no extra cost is possible on a volunteer basis. Those willing to participate as a volunteer will be expected to be present in the selected room for the entire conference day (9am - 5pm, you can choose on which day of the conference).

Application forms should be completed by 10th July 2023, by 10:00 AM.

Participation includes access to all conference sessions, but does not include conference services such as the gala dinner. If you are interested in volunteering for this event free of charge, please fill in the form so that we can arrange a meeting (online) and provide you with all the details. Student places  are very limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Some additional information:

The dg.o conferences are a recognised global forum for presenting and discussing interdisciplinary research on digital transformation, public administration, political participation, civic engagement, technological innovation, etc. The conference brings together scholars from a wide range of disciplines - computer science, public policy and administration, law, communications, economics, sociology, etc. pursuing interdisciplinary research on topics that are relevant and timely for practice, policy and society. The conference travels the world - from 2000-2007 in the USA, from 2008-2015 in North America - Canada, Mexico and the USA, and since 2016 China, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.

The special theme of the dg.o 2023 conference is 'Together in a Fragile World: Digital State and Solidarity'. It is organised by the Digital Government Society and the Department of Management Informatics in the Faculty of Management and Economics. Patrons are: Lech Wałęsa Institute Foundation, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mayor of the City of Gdańsk and Rector of the Gdansk University of Technology. Sponsors are the Initiative for Excellence - Research University (IDUB) programme and Elsevier. Partners are the European Solidarity Centre and GovStack. 

The conference programme was built from scientific article submissions from around the world. Out of 155 submissions, the conference accepted 68 articles, 15 posters, 4 workshops for presentation and publication in the conference proceedings. Articles will be presented under 18 thematic tracks covering the topics of digital transformation, innovative public services, artificial intelligence in public administration, social media, active citizenship, digital solidarity and social cohesion, cyber security, etc. The programme also includes a keynote lecture to be delivered by President Lech Wałęsa, two lectures and plenary discussions, and a doctoral colloquium.

As part of the conference, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialised agency of the United Nations, will organise a consultative workshop between digital state practitioners and researchers on the GovStack initiative, which aims to break down barriers to building sustainable digital public infrastructure. Another international organisation, the International CIO Academy, will organise a workshop on the topic of Government Chief Information Officer in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

The conference will bring together around 120 participants from 25 countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the United States, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and Spain.

The next, 25th dg.o conference will take place in 2024 in Taiwan.
