neuroaton
We warmly invite students and PhD candidates from Gdańsk University of Technology to take part in NeuroAton – a unique event promoting the idea of neurodiversity! Form a team of 4–7 people and register by May 5. We kick off on May 7 at 2:15 PM in the Main Building Auditorium of Gdańsk Tech. The final will take place on May 14 at the Eco-Innovation Centre. NeuroAton is an opportunity to develop innovative solutions that support neurodivergent individuals in public spaces. You can expect creative workshops, mentoring, inspirational talks, and a solution presentation in front of a jury.

NeuroAton is an opportunity to develop innovative solutions that support the inclusion of neurodivergent perspectives in public spaces. As part of an open competition, students—supported by mentors—will tackle real challenges faced daily by neurodivergent individuals at Gdańsk University of Technology.

On May 7, participants will begin working on proposals for initiatives aimed at improving quality of life, increasing accessibility, and fostering social and professional inclusion for neurodivergent individuals. This day will feature intensive team-based creative work under the guidance of mentors.

On May 14, a jury will evaluate the projects based on the following criteria:

  • Originality of the idea

  • Practical applicability of the idea

  • Quality of execution

  • An additional criterion proposed individually by each jury member

The Jury will include Vice-Rector Barbara Wikieł, student Piotr Majewski, and Professor Ewa Lechman. The Rector, Professor Krzysztof Wilde, will also take part in the event’s final.

We embrace a broad understanding of neurodiversity—including both individuals with formal diagnoses and those who identify with traits such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette's syndrome, PTSD, and other characteristics that can pose challenges in social environments.

Suggested areas for proposed solutions may include:

  • Infrastructure and Architecture (e.g., adapting public spaces, creating quiet zones, neurodivergent-friendly navigation systems)

  • Assistive Technologies (e.g., apps to support daily functioning, AI tools, AR solutions)

  • Education and Public Awareness (e.g., social campaigns, training programs, educational platforms)

  • Employment (e.g., inclusive recruitment models, workplace accommodations, mentoring systems)

  • Transport and Mobility (e.g., improved accessibility of public transport, smart travel planning systems)

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing (e.g., psychological support systems, stress management apps)
