Recently, Dr. Beata Krawczyk-Bryłka participated in an international meeting of supercomputer users at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya in Barcelona. The trip was part of the EuroCC² project, which involves 33 countries from across Europe. The project's aim is to provide access and technological support as well as training and advisory services for supercomputer users in the fields of science, industry, and public administration.

As part of EuroCC Poland CI TASK, Dr. Krawczyk-Bryłka's responsibility is to establish collaboration with Polish organizations involved in implementing digital solutions (e.g., DIHs) and with National Centers of Competence in HPC established in each partner country.

During the conference, various projects utilizing supercomputers were presented. Panel discussions also took place, focusing on topics such as HPC education and raising user awareness about the applications of supercomputers. Significant attention was given to the energy challenges associated with HPC usage, energy management, and sustainable solutions in this area.

Participants had the opportunity to see the supercomputer Marenostrum 4, concealed within the walls of an old Spanish church on the university campus. It is a part of the Barcelona Supercomputer Centre, which repurposed the abandoned sacred building to house its infrastructure. This architectural solution and the acceptance of the local community, recognizing the extraordinary fusion of history and modernity, tradition and technology, deserve appreciation.

During the 17th RES Users' Conference in Barcelona, a meeting was also held with representatives of NCC Spain to discuss areas of further collaboration within the EURO CC project.
