We are pleased to announce that Marta Kuc-Czarnecka, Ph.D. D.Sc., from the Department of Statistics and Econometrics and Vice-Dean for Study Organization at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Gdańsk University of Technology, has been awarded the degree of Habilitated Doctor (D.Sc.) in the field of Social Sciences, in the discipline of Economics and Finance.

On behalf of Dean Dr. Małgorzata Gawrycka, D.Sc., and the entire academic community of the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk University of Technology, we extend our sincere congratulations and wish Dr. Kuc-Czarnecka continued academic success.

Marta Kuc-Czarnecka, Ph.D. D.Sc. specializes in synthetic indicators, rankings, multidimensional phenomenon analysis, social convergence, and sustainable development.

Her research utilizes advanced statistical tools, including global sensitivity analysis, to develop innovative approaches to measuring and assessing complex socio-economic phenomena. She also studies the impact of modeling processes on analysis results and emphasizes the importance of incorporating uncertainty and multiple perspectives in the development of social and economic evaluation tools.

She is a co-author of the R package compindexR, which supports the creation of transparent and robust synthetic indicators, and she has published extensively on indicator analysis and data-driven public policy.

Dr. Kuc-Czarnecka is actively involved in organizational roles both within the university and internationally. She serves as Dean’s Plenipotentiary for AMBA Accreditation, is a member of the AACSB Accreditation Team, and sits on the European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS) Board, where she helps shape education standards for public statistics across Europe.

Between 2018 and 2020, she was an expert for the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), focusing on social convergence and quality of life. She is also co-founder of the Econoptics Student Research Group for Socio-Economic Analysis and is a committed advocate for pluralism in economics.
