Academic promotion Ph.D David Duenas-Cid, Gdańsk Tech professor
Ph.D David Duenas-Cid, defended his doctorate at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Catalonia) in 2015 and then he embarked in an international career, working at Tallinn (2017-20), University of Tartu (2021), both in Estonia, and Kozminski University (2022), and having short lecturing/visiting periods at University of Warsaw (2016-17), Grigol Robakidze University (Georgia, 2016), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (2018, 2019 and 2020) and University of New South Wales (Australia, 2023). In June 2023, by decision of the Scientific Council of the Disciplines: political and administration science and social communication and media science of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań obtained a post-doctoral degree in the field of social sciences in the discipline of politics and administration. The habilitation application was based on the scientific achievement entitled: "Res Publica Digitalis, Society and Politics in the Digital Public Space".
His research topics are related to the development of electoral technologies and e-democracy and, by extension, to the use of technologies for the development of public administration. His second research topic is related with digital sociology, bringing traditional concepts of sociology and social sciences to the comprehension of the transformations provoked by the digital society. His current research about the “Dynamics of Trust and Distrust creation in Internet Voting” serves as a good example of the previous.
He has been awarded with a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Widening Fellowship, with an NCN OPUS grant, and with a Miniatura Grant since 2019, and, previously, has been involved in several other EU funded research projects. He is the General Chair at the E-Vote-ID conference, the most important global conference focusing on electoral technologies, Program Chair at the Digital Government Society Conference (for 2023 and 2024) and the Elected President of the Thematic Group on Digital Sociology of the International Sociological Association. He serves as an Academic Editor at Internet Policy Review , and has reviewed for several journals such as Government Information Quarterly, SageOPEN, the International Journal of Communication, the Australasian Journal of Information Systems or the International Journal of Electronic Governance, amongst others. He has been awarded with the recognition for being the “MSCA Fellow of the week” of the European Union, the best paper award at E-Vote-ID 2019 and the Best lecturing experience at Universitat Rovira i Virgili 2016.
Ph.D. David Duenas-Cid is an employee of the Department of Informatics in Management at FME, headed by Ph.D. Tomasz Janowski, Gdańsk Tech professor.
