The international conference "Income and Wealth Inequality: Drivers and Consequences."

Income and wealth
From September 27th to 29th, 2023, the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Gdańsk University of Technology, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS), invites you to a scientific conference titled "Income and wealth inequality: drivers and consequences."

During the conference, the latest research achievements related to income and wealth inequality will be presented from theoretical, empirical, and comparative perspectives. The role of public policy and technological progress in the evolution of inequality will be discussed, along with an examination of the economic and social consequences of rising inequality.

Over the course of three days, more than 50 scholars from around the world will present their research. The conference will feature keynote speeches from globally renowned experts in the field of inequality:

  • Branko Milanovic (City University of New York & Stone Center for Socio-Economic Inequality)
  • Dariusz Rosati (Member of the Polish Parliament, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland)
  • Joanna Tyrowicz (University of Warsaw and Monetary Policy Council Member)
  • Philippe Van Kerm (University of Luxembourg and Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research LISER)

We particularly invite you to the debate titled "The Bridge between Economic Policy and Research," which will take place on September 27, 2023, at 17:45, in the courtyard of Fahrenheit Building at Gdańsk University of Technology. This debate will address issues related to the causes and effects of income and wealth inequality, including their implications for public policy.

To participate in the conference, please submit your application by September 10, 2023.

Registration

The conference is planned to be held at the Main Building in the Fahrenheit Courtyard and at the Hydrostation within the Hydromechanics Building at Gdańsk University of Technology.

The event is under the patronage of the Fahrenheit University Association, Gdańsk University of Technology, the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS), and the Polish Economic Society.

The conference is co-financed by the IDUB Carbonium Supporting Conferences program, the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS), and the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Gdańsk University of Technology.
