International Management

The degree program in management prepares  to perform managerial tasks in a dynamically changing international environment. Graduates acquire comprehensive competencies at an in-depth level and the ability to apply them in multidisciplinary contexts. They are able to seek, analyze, critically evaluate, and synthesize information from a variety of sources, enabling them to identify and solve complex management problems. They interact with colleagues to achieve a common outcome and use appropriate communication tools to effectively share knowledge and transmit ideas and information. They exhibit professional behaviors and have the potential to act entrepreneurially and lead in their chosen roles and in larger communities. Students can choose one of two specializations. International Management is a specialization with AMBA accreditation that provides the skills for creative and entrepreneurial action in an international environment. Sustainability Management in Business is a new specialization shaping administrative competences in the context of sustainable development.

As a student, you can take part in a double diploma program with universities from Italy - Universita Politecnica delle Marche, Universita degli Studi di Firenze and France - Excelia Business School. Thanks to this, you can get a second diploma from a foreign university during your studies, and thus increase the chance of an attractive job after graduation.

Degree: Master's, Entry requirements: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts (Law, Economics, Management).

Duration:

  • 3 semesters (for graduates of 1st degree engineering studies at FME Gdańsk Tech), 
  • 4 semesters (for graduates of all fields of study)

Attention! 3-semester studies are intended only for Gdańsk Tech graduates who have completed their studies in Engineering Management.

Program

The study program is divided into five areas. Each course is assigned to one of them. Their diversity ensures that program students acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills that allow them to fulfill important roles in modern organizations or follow an entrepreneurial career.

Fundamental Manager's Competencies

The first area is Fundamental Manager's Competencies, which includes courses aimed at developing knowledge, skills, and social competencies that are the basis of a manager's activities. These courses are carried out in the first semester and help to equalize knowledge between students whose undergraduate studies were related to business or economics and graduates of unrelated fields. These courses include Management, Finance, Human Resources Management, Marketing, Statistics, Microeconomics, and Business Language.

Business Contexts / Global Mindset

The second area is Business Contexts / Global Mindset. Courses belonging to this area build awareness and knowledge of economic processes, the environment of modern organizations and the specifics of their functioning in an international context. The courses belonging to this area are diverse. Still, all of them aim to shape a person who has a broad perspective and understands the impact of current processes and phenomena on the organization's functioning. These courses are carried out in semesters 2, 3, and 4. They include, among others, Strategic Management, Macroeconomics, International Marketing, International Finance, International management and Sustainable development.

Analytical Mindset

The third area is the Analytical Mindset. It includes courses related to data analysis, and their completion allows to competently use methods that enable data collection, conduct their thoughtful analysis, draw reliable conclusions from data, and understand and interpret it. Part of the courses belonging to this area are directly related to financial data and expertise. The area includes courses such as Marketing Research, Managerial Accounting, Financial Analysis, Statistics II, or Forecasting and Optimization in Logistics. These courses are carried out in semesters 1, 2, and 3.

Competencies Supporting Managers' Effectiveness

The fourth area is Competencies Supporting Managers' Effectiveness. It concerns issues that can be described as auxiliary and related to, among others, the soft aspects of management, communication competencies, but also knowledge management, shaping attitudes, entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, and innovation. Courses belonging to this area are carried out mainly in the later semesters of studies. These include Management psychology, Information and Knowledge Management, Negotiations, Business Intelligence, Entrepreneurship and Creativity and Innovation Process Management.

Research and Academic Competencies

The fifth area is Research and Academic Competencies. Courses that belong here prepare students to conceive a diploma thesis, carry out their own for their dissertation and defend it at the end of their studies. This area includes Final Dissertation Preparation, Final Project and Thesis Seminar.

Management in English  with a specialization in International Management, as the only one in Poland, received the international AMBA accreditation for the years 2018-2023, which proves the high quality standard of the studies.

Management in English with a specialization in International Management (Master’s program) has been classified in the new edition of the QS Business Masters Rankings 2023: Management.

QS is one of the major university and study program rankings. The latest QS Business Master's Rankings 2023: Management includes only three programs of studies in Poland. The classification of programs includes several criteria. They are based on the results of surveys sent to employers and scientists and data obtained from universities.
