Katarzyna Stankiewicz, PhD, on 27th edition of the Ljubljana Summer School
This year’s edition once again demonstrated the importance of grounding business education in an international environment. A total of 178 students from 27 countries and 6 continents participated in this edition of the Ljubljana Summer School. Over the course of two and a half weeks, they attended selected courses taught by lecturers representing 16 academic institutions from 11 countries worldwide. More information is available on the official Ljubljana Summer School website.
Katarzyna Stankiewicz, PhD, taught the "Psychology for Managers" course, which focused on the psychological mechanisms shaping human behavior in teams and organizations, as well as the practical application of this knowledge to enhance communication quality, team efficiency, and effective leadership. International diversity is one of the Ljubljana Summer School’s greatest strengths and a key element of the "Psychology for Managers" course, which was attended by 24 students from countries including Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, and Switzerland. The diversity of experiences, perspectives, and cultures created a unique environment for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and insights. This allowed students to view human behavior, collaboration, and the challenges facing modern organizations from a multitude of perspectives and to realize that diversity can be a genuine asset in business.
The course demonstrated that understanding the mechanisms governing team behavior takes on particular significance when confronted with the reality of a multicultural environment. It is precisely such experiences that shape leaders ready to face the challenges of the modern, globalized labor market.
